How We Work

As a virtual human rights organization, Women Graduates–USA is guided by its mission and energized by the passion of its members to address our core issues.

WG–USA is governed by an elected Board of Directors with Conveners of Committees, Task Forces and Working Groups. Diversity in leadership and experience is valued. Through liaisons and representatives, WG–USA collaborates with our colleagues in the U.S. and around the globe.

Effective and respectful communication is essential for Women Graduates–USA. We are committed to sharing information and being completely transparent in all discussions and decisions.

Our formal communication is via our website, monthly distribution of our newsletter, THE FLAME, occasional e-Blasts for emerging issues, regular meetings of Committees, Working Groups and Task Forces, and monthly meetings of leadership.

WG–USA uses social media to post messages and reminders with links to information.

Through the work of Committees, Working Groups and Task Forces, members move our advocacy to action.  Prior to the monthly leadership meeting, reports from Officers, Committees, Working Groups and Task Forces are submitted and distributed.

Women Graduates–USA moves its Advocacy to Action for emerging and ongoing challenges to its Core Issues. Members adopt Resolutions annually to guide increased advocacy. WG-USA works at the local, state and federal level with elected officials and government departments and agencies.  Advocacy at the international level is coordinated through collaboration with fellow NGO’s and GWI colleagues at the United Nations.

Advocacy in Action and Advocacy Toolkit

WG–USA Resolutions for Action are presented and adopted as needed at the all member Annual General Meeting. Resolutions address emerging needs and changing national or international issues.
